The Presidential elections of 2018 in Brazil and Mexico were among the most important and contentious in modern times in Latin America. They revealed sharp political divisions and frustrations among an electorate increasingly fatigued by corruption and violence, but still hungry for genuine progress. The seminar will reflect on the election outcomes, what they tell us about the political dynamics of the countries concerned and the political, economic and social implications going forward.
