Alumni of Book and Digital Media Studies (MA) are invited to attend the festive launch of TXT Magazine. On the 6th of September 2018, TXT: The Book Issue will be presented at SPUI25 in Amsterdam.

We are witnessing a third reading revolution. So they say. Yet if the future is digital, why did the world recently see a 17% e-book sales decline? In the meantime, the reading technology declared dead more often than Bond, Spears and God combined is looking fresher than ever. The paper book is back from having never been away. Who and what are administering its potion of youth?

This September, TXT Magazine spotlights the paper book at the official Book and Digital Media Studies alumni event. 2018 marks the academic magazine’s quinquennial jubilee. This we celebrate with an open launch at SPUI25 sponsored by Amsterdam University Press. We would like to welcome all Leiden University Book Studies alumni to this festive afternoon. The topical panel discussion and succeeding borrel will be the ideal opportunity for you to rekindle old as well as create new contacts. The entrance is free and every attendee receives a freshly printed copy of TXT.

TXT: The Book Issue offers up-to-the-minute insight into the paper device’s survival. The print and online journal covers stories, interviews and essays from international book and media scholars and professionals. Taking you along the device’s history, materiality and social symbolism, answers as well as questions are found regarding the paper book’s continuing significance in our modern day and age.
