The Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML), BaseClear, Naturalis Biodiversity Center and KWR have been working together on research in the field of DNA biomonitoring. We would like to invite you for the official launch of our collaboration on Wednesday 26 September at the Schouwburg Leiden, from 2.30 to 5.30 pm.
DNA Barcoding forms the basis of a spin-off that the Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) of Leiden University has founded along with Naturalis Biodiversity Center, KWR Watercycle Research Institute and Baseclear. This spin-off company will be officially launched after the public lecture.
We invited professor Molecular Biology, Paul Hebert (University of Guelph, Canada) to hold a public lecture entitled ‘A mission to preserve planetary biodiversity’ on the occasion of the launch.
Hebert is in the Netherlands on account of a special occasion. On 27 September, during a special meeting of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), he will receive the Dr. AH. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences 2018. He will receive this prestigious prize for his major contribution to the development of DNA Barcoding, a method of species identification and discovery using a short section of DNA from a standardized section of the genome.
More information will follow.
