The 21st century is coming with a wealth of new technologies (like the item you are using at this very moment). They provide solution in many areas of our life: energy, food, medicine, transport and leisure to count just a few. They also have unintended consequences for our health and environment. Both these technologies and the ones developed to counter any hazardous effects, such as recycling and remediation may also have issues in terms of public and environmental health. What are these issues and how may we deal with them? This is the topic of the talk of Hemda Garelick, Professor of Environmental Science at the Middlesex University , London.
