2311 ES Leiden
Lorentzaal (A-144)

On Sat. 30 June 2018, the Duke-Leiden Conference on "Comparative Foreign Relations Law: Methodology, Common Themes, and the Future of the Field" will take place on from 9:00am-5:15pm in the Lorentzaal (A-144) at Leiden Law School, Kamerlingh Onnes Gebouw, Steenschuur 25, 2311 ES Leiden. Scholars are increasingly comparing and contrasting how nations and the EU allocate foreign relations authority, such as over entering into and exiting from treaties, engaging with international institutions, and using military force. This conference considers conceptual issues, methodological questions, and common themes highlighted by research relating to comparative foreign relations law, including in the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Comparative Foreign Relations Law, which is being edited by Professor Curtis Bradley. Speakers include, inter alia, Monica Hakimi (Univ. of Michigan Law School), Oona Hathaway (Yale Law School), Larry Helfer (Duke Law School), Joris Larik (Leiden University), Gib van Ert (executive legal officer to the Chief Justice of Canada), Carlos Vazquez (Georgetown Law Center), and Pierre Verdier (Univ. of Virginia School of Law). The event is free and students are encouraged to attend.
