The research of Dr. Mortimer’s main research focus is the biosynthesis of the plant cell wall and sphingolipid glycosylation. A particular topic of interest is the understanding of glycosyltransferases, and the regulation of substrates of these enzymes. This work puts her on the one hand firm within the field of chemical biology, but with a focus and application of this work in the area of biofuel production, her talk should also be of interest to those working in the area of energy and sustainability.
