Valentin Post is Deputy Managing Director of WASTE, a Netherlands-based organization that focuses on building sustainable sanitation and solid waste systems in developing countries in order to contribute to clean and healthy environments. WASTE’s experts are active in over 20 countries. It specializes in developing value chains in waste management and fostering collaboration and dialogue between farmers, entrepreneurs, local communities, financial institutions and governments. In one of their recent projects, WASTE has been working with the Brussels-bases trade association ‘Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Development’ for advancing progressive recycling-oriented programmes in European cities and to conduct training events for EU-financed Horizon 2020 participants. They frequently cooperate with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dutch Embassies, and other international organisations for study visits of the Dutch environmental and solid waste sectors.
Valentin Post has over twenty years of experience working in the field of solid waste management and sanitation. He worked with large Western banks and with local financial institutions on the establishment of guarantee funds. He also is also experienced in environmental policy analysis for private companies and the governments of Denmark, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the European Union, amongst others. Valentin Post holds and MSc in Development Economics and International Development and an MSc in History of Societies from Erasmus University Rotterdam and an MBA with specialization in environment from University of Twente.
