Rudi Vranckx is a renowned journalist on international conflict, recently referred to in the newspaper NRC Handelsblad as the best war correspondent in the Dutch language area. He reports on the wars in Iraq and Syria for the Dutch Broadcast Foundation NOS and for for the Flemish broadcast foundation VRT. He published various bestselling books, including Beyond the Caliphate: A World of Fear and Anger (Voorbij het Kalifaat: Een Wereld van Angst en Woede) that was published in 2017. In it, he discusses ISIS and the wars in Iraq and Syria, and analyse how and why the tensions that gave rise to the recent conflict in the Middle East will continue to plague Western societies for years to come. Rudi Vranckx holds degrees in Contemporary History and in Journalism from the University of Leuven.
