Insect Biotechnology: Medical potential of insect-derived molecules
Andreas Vilcinskas is head of the Bio-Resources Department of the Fraunhofer Institute, Europe’s largest Institute for applied science. Furthermore, he is professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. Prof.
Vilcinskas is one of the founders of "yellow biotechnology" , biotechnology inspired by insects. He has a yearly research budget of over 50 M€, advises the German government on antibiotics, and has led several insect peptides to patents and preclinical trials.
In his Top Lecture, Andreas will also talk about his fundamental work on microbiomes and transgenerational immune priming in insects.
