The Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies will host a lecture given by the the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador, H.E. Dr. Maria Fernanda Espinosa, organized by The Consulate of the Republic of Ecuador in the Netherlands.
Dr. Maria Fernanda Espinosa will be presenting a lecture on the topic ‘From Tax Havens to Tax Justice: Towards a Fair Taxation System.’ During her lecture, Dr. María Fernanda Espinosa will address the Ecuadorian initiative for tax justice, which includes the creation of a mechanism within the framework of the United Nations to intensify international tax cooperation and the fight against illicit financial flows.
The Chief of Ecuadorian Diplomacy has more than 20 years of international experience in multilateral issues, integration, security and defense, human rights, rights of indigenous peoples and nationalities, and culture and heritage. During her professional career she has served as Ambassador of Ecuador to the United Nations in Geneva and in New York. She has held the functions of Minister of National Defense; Coordinating Minister of Cultural and Natural Heritage; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration; Special Adviser to the President of the National Assembly of Ecuador; Regional Director of the World Union for Nature, South America; Senior Advisor on Biodiversity Policies and Indigenous Peoples for the World Conservation Union (IUCN).
