Koen Petersen is book author, publicist and a frequented speaker for his expertise in the field of U.S. politics. Before returning to the Netherlands, Koen lived in New York, he frequently travels in the States and closely follows United States politics. He analysed the 2016 Presidential elections, and appeared in various media such as Pauw & Witteman, RTL, De Telegraaf, Radio 1, Elsevier, De Volkskrant, HP/De Tijd, and so forth. In his most recent book Showtime (2016), Koen analyses the four highlights of the election campaign between presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump: the party conventions in Philadelphia and Cleveland in July, the debates on television, election day on 8 November and the inauguration on 20 January 2017. He analyses insightful historical backgrounds, traditions, rules of the game, anecdotes and facts of that engender a deeper understanding of the Presidential race and its implications for the United States, its foreign policy and the world more generally.
Prior to his work as publicist on American politics, Koen worked with Procter & Gamble, RELX Group, as Global Director for Outsourcing and Offshoring with Reed Elsevier in London, and as Director for Customer Services and Director Operations at Jacobs Douwe Egberts. Koen graduated with degrees in American Studies (University of Amsterdam) and Political Science (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).
