Global Citizens Meet Up: Inspiring action to implement the SDGs

  • Severn Cullis-Suzuki (Canada), Earth Charter Commissioner and member EC International Council
  • Awraham Soetendorp, Jacob Soetendorp Institute and Earth Charter Commissioner
  • Aart van Veller, Founder Van de Bron (wind energy provider)
Friday 29 September 2017
Turfmarkt 99
2511 DP The Hague

Working towards a sustainable world? Where do we start? Three well known sustainability ‘heroes’ with very different backgrounds will discuss with the audience what drives them to work for a sustainable future, what actions they have taken and what keeps them going.

The Global Citizens Meetup will bring together veteran activists, entrepreneurs, students and probably one of the most iconic inspirational speakers in the sustainable development movement Severn Cullis-Suzuki. In 1992 at the first Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Severn, then a 12 year old girl, brought an audience of international politicians and head of states to tears with her moving call to action for the sake of future generations. Her iconic speech is still widely shared on social media today. Severn is one of the members of the historic Earth Charter Commission and active member of the Earth Charter International Council.

The Earth Charter offers an ethical framework for sustainable development. It offers inspiration and practical starting points to work together towards a sustainable future
