The Launch of the new Language Learning Resource Centre

Friday 9 June 2017
Cleveringaplaats 1
2311 BD Leiden
Lipsius 228

At Leiden University, 20 languages are taught across different institutes and at different educational programs.  Additionally, researchers on second/foreign language acquisition and teacher trainers reside in different institutes. The new Language Learning Resource Center (LLRC) will unite all these language teaching professionals. At June 9th 2017, the LLRC will officially start. This launch will be celebrated by a full day of talks and exchanges of ideas.

The day will start with a talk by Prof. Claudia Harsch, academic director of Fremdsprachenzentrum in Bremen (which unites not only language teaching professionals of one but of multiple universities). She will inspire us to build a successful centre in The Netherlands. Prof. Norbert Schmitt (Nottingham University) will talk about teaching and testing vocabulary from a research perspective. The presentations in between these two invited talks will be held by language teachers and language researchers from Leiden University. After Prof. Schmitt’s presentation, all attendants are invited to celebrate the opening of the LLRC with a drink and a bite.
