Submissions are solicited for the 45th annual meeting of the North Atlantic Conference on Afroasiatic Linguistics (NACAL 45) at Leiden University from Friday, June 9th, 2017 through Sunday, June 11th, 2017.
NACAL offers a venue for the presentation and discussion of original research on linguistic topics relevant to the languages of the Afroasiatic phylum (Chadic, Berber, Cushitic, Omotic, Egyptian, and Semitic). Topics related to all aspects of Afroasiatic languages, including phonology, morphology, syntax, comparative linguistics, sociolinguistics, and epigraphy, will be considered. These topics should only be considered as general guidelines and are not intended to be exhaustive.
The theme for NACAL 45 is lexicography, lexicology, and lexical reconstruction. No original submission will be rejected on account of its subject, so long as it relates to the languages of the Afroasiatic phylum and meets the scholarly standards established by previous conferences.
We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for NACAL 45 will be Prof. Harry Stroomer.
All abstracts should be in English with glosses or translations for words or examples in any other language. Each abstract, including the title and any data in figures or tables, must not exceed 300 words. Abstracts should be submitted to the conference email address, firstname.lastname@example.org (pdf and MS word document), by January 15th, 2017. Please be advised that late submissions may not be considered.
Please forward this call to any scholars who might be interested.
We encourage online registration, for which you may visit our website at www.nacal.org. The authors of successful submissions will be notified by January 30th, 2017.
Information regarding accommodations for NACAL 45 will be posted to the website by early February.
