Anna Dolidze – herself a Leiden alumna – is currently chief legal adviser to the President of Georgia. In the past she was actively involved in human rights NGO’s and she represented in court the victims of human rights abuses. In 2006 she became one of the leaders of a popular campaign that demanded investigation of a notorious murder case. It transpired that some Ministry officials were involved, and the handling of the case generated heavy criticism of the then government. How did the movement grow and succeed? Can one generalize the lessons and compare them with various campaigns across the world?
