Chemical Biology Lecture: The mechanism of ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling

Dr Mueller-Planitz studies chromatin remodelling, the process that controls the precise locations where nucleosomes sit in the genome. Dysfunction of chromatin remodeling has obvious impact on gene transcription and DNA repair, and is strongly linked to various developmental diseases and cancer.

Despite intense research, the functions and mechanisms of remodeling have remained elusive. Using multi-disciplinary approaches that span genetic, genomic, biochemical, biophysical and structural techniques Dr. Mueller-Planitz aims to fill this gap. His lecture will showcase how remodeller enzymes can be decoded to reveal the inner working of these molecular machines.
