Call for papers
On March 15-17, 2017, the traditional Dutch-Flemish Slavists’ Meeting will be held once again at Leiden University. Abstracts for research presentations can be submitted by all researchers in the areas of Slavic, Russian and Eurasian Studies. Contributions from PhD students and advanced MA students are also warmly welcomed. The format for each presentation is 20 minutes + 10 minutes of discussion; the language is Dutch or English, dependent on the presenter’s preference. 200- to 300-word abstracts can be submitted to the e-mail addresses mentioned below before the 1st of February.
On Wednesday evening, Dr. Alexei Kurbanovsky, renowned art historian in the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), will give a keynote lecture, which will be followed by a reception. Apart from the traditional research presentations, on Thursday morning a workshop will be organized for MA/BA3 students on the topic of ‘Russian propaganda’. Friday afternoon will see two round table discussions on ‘Research funding in Slavic Studies’ and ‘Innovation in teaching: Slavic Studies or Area Studies?’.
A more detailed program will follow in February. Participation in the conference is free of charge, although a contribution of €20 p.p. will be collected for the conference dinner on Thursday evening, to be paid in cash.

The opening of the conference takes place in the Academy Building (Klein Auditorium) on Wednesday 15 March, 20:00-23:30 hours.
