On Wednesday 7 December American professor Richard Albert (Boston College) will give a lecture. Professor Albert is an internationally renowned expert in the field of constitutional change.
His lecture will look at constitutional change in Europe, a region on the verge of great constitutional change. For example, what will happen to the European Union after Brexit? The European states themselves are in the midst of a period of change: the constitutions of Hungary, Poland and Turkey are all under pressure. And perhaps the same is true for countries like France and the Netherlands, where upcoming elections could have far-reaching consequences for the political and legal order. How should we view constitutional change? Is change always a bad thing? Should constitutions be set in stone? Or is a dynamic constitution better? Professor Albert will address such questions during his lecture.
