First Lecture

Title: Nobel prize in Medicine 2016
Speaker: Hans Aerts (LIC). Hans is professor of Medical Biochemistry at LIC. Today he will explain the discoveries of Yoshinori Ohsumi on the mechanisms of autophagy who was awarded the Nobel prize in Medicine last week.

Second Lecture

Title: Nobel prize in Chemistry 2016
Speakers: Hermen Overkleeft and Sylvestre Bonnet (LIC). Hermen is professor of Bio-organic synthesis at LIC. Sylvestre is associate professor in the Metals in Catalysis, Biomimetics & Inorganic Materials group at LIC, who did his PhD research in the group of Jean-Pierre Sauvage.

Today they will explain the discoveries of the Nobel prize laureates in Chemistry 2016, a prize that was awarded last week jointly to Jean-Pierre Sauvage, Sir J. Fraser Stoddart and Bernard L. Feringa (from Groningen!) for the design and synthesis of molecular machines.
