In this International Colloquium on “Heritage and Rights of Indigenous Peoples” the general focus will be on the rights of indigenous peoples to their lands, territories and resources as it relates to these being an integral part of the indigenous people's heritage.
The colloquium will consist of individual presentations by a range of invited indigenous experts from such diverse countries as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Brazil, Suriname, Greenland, The Philippines and Zimbabwe, with additional input in discussion by diverse specialists and researchers working at Leiden University. As a preparation for students and participants there will be a movie screening (Sumé - The Sound of a Revolution- from Greenland) on the afternoon of the 18th (from 3.00 pm. to 5.00 pm).
