Annual GIS-days ARCHON
- 3 March 2016 - 4 March 2016
- Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
- HG 12A-33 & HG 13A-37
The GIS-day is an annual workshop on GIS applications in archaeology, organised by ACASA in collaboration with ARCHON, research school of archaeology. Both young and experienced researchers will present their ongoing projects and confront the audience with the problems they encounter, new insights they have acquired or innovative new research ideas they envision. The focus on ongoing projects rather than completed research is explicit, as an important part of the workshop will be the discussions between the speakers and the audience and their critical reflection on the work that is presented.
For the attending students this workshop will provide an exciting opportunity to engage with ongoing research projects on an informal level. ARCHON members are awarded 1 EC after attending the workshop on the 4th of March and submitting a report according to ARCHON’s general guidelines.
Additionally, we will organise a practical workshop on the 3rd of March for ARCHON members who wish to attend the workshop but are not yet very familiar with GIS. The main goal of this is to function as a stepping stone for those who are interested in using GIS on a research level and to provide background knowledge to attend the following GIS-day.
If you wish to attend, please register with firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate whether you will attend the GIS-day only (4th of March) or also the introductory practical workshop (3rd of March).
