In the year 1613 Leiden University established one of Europe’s very first chairs of Arabic Language and Culture. In 2013 we celebrated the 400th anniversary of Leiden’s long-standing tradition in Arabic studies, made possible by the generous support of Aramco Overseas Company in The Hague.

To continue to disseminate the beauty and richness of the Arabic culture, science, and language, the Leiden University Centre for the Study of Islam and Society (LUCIS), again in close cooperation with Aramco Overseas Company, presents the following activities.
