LeidenAsiaCentre is a new centre of excellence supported by a generous donation from the Vaes-Elias Fund received through the Leiden University Fund (LUF). Drawing on Leiden’s unique Asia expertise and building on the work of Leiden’s Modern East Asia Research Centre (MEARC), LeidenAsiaCentre will become the leading centre of excellence for research on contemporary Asia in The Netherlands. Asia is now more important than ever before, economically, politically and culturally. LeidenAsiaCentre will conduct research on Asia on themes of the highest relevance. Projects will be developed and executed in close cooperation with a range of partners in order to maximize the impact of Asia research on stakeholders both within and outside academia.

You are cordially invited to the public meeting that will mark the establishment of LeidenAsiaCentre.  The meeting will start at 15.30 hrs and will be followed by drinks.
