Europeanisation of national administrative law

The conference is included in the programme of the summer course. However, it is also possible to sign up for the conference only.

The systems of administrative law in the EU Member States are subject to Europeanisation processes; for instance, through the transposition of EU rules into national legislation, and through the application of EU law by national courts. The influence of EU law is usually most visible in substantive administrative law, such as environmental, consumer, and economic law. However, the general administrative laws of the EU Member States are also being influenced through interaction with the European legal system.
During the conference, scholars from the EU Member States will share their knowledge and insights on the role that the general principles of law play in the Europeanisation of the general administrative law systems of the Member States. Where and how do these principles lead to Europeanisation? Where are the European principles smoothly absorbed in national legal systems, and where do Europeanisation processes encounter resistance? Where are European legal principles even voluntarily adopted in the national administrative legal systems?

The conference is open to everyone interested in the reception of EU law in the general administrative law of other Member States and who would like to share their experience or knowledge on the Europeanisation of their own national administrative law.

The conference will take place on 2 September 2019 in Leiden.
