The master’s programme in Language and Communication at Leiden University is a unique opportunity to discover how languages become different instruments of communication in the world's cultural and social systems.

Choose from a large selection of languages
The Language and Communication programme will provide you with in-depth knowledge of the interaction between languages and the environments in which they are used. The programme offers a usage-based perspective on language, combining pragmatics, sociolinguistics and argumentation theory. You will also be able to choose from the largest selection of languages taught and studied at any institution in the Netherlands, varying from Chinese to German, from Papuan to Slavic languages, and many more.
