Other students
Between 3 and 16 April 2023 (minors with admission requirements) and 8 May and 15 July 2023 (minors without admission requirements), external students (from other research universities and universities of applied sciences) can apply for just one Leiden University minor.

An overview with all relevant information about the minors can be found on this website.

When and how can you sign up?

The SBI minor is open to all third-year Bachelor students from the universities of Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam (with or without a background in science). There are also limited places available for (international) students from other universities.

This minor is not open to students from universities of applied sciences.

This minor has a maximum capacity of 95 students. Participants will be selected on a first come first-serve basis, and if they have done all steps that are required for this minor.

Important note: students can only enroll for either the full minor or one of the half minors. Students that enroll for multiple class numbers of the SBI minor will not be placed.

Students from other universities are asked to contact the SBI coordinator via info@sbb.leidenuniv.nl to check if there are still places available. After confirmation, these external students need to register as a guest student at Leiden University, see more information here.
Max number of student: 95
Students can enroll from May 8 (13:00) until May 31 (13:00).

Limited number of places

Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.

Reserved spots for LDE-students

Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam collaborate closely on a range of educational matters, thus making it easy to follow a minor at TU Delft or the Erasmus University. During the application period for Leiden students, in April and May, TU Delft and the Erasmus University reserve a third of their minor places for Leiden University students.

Maximum of one minor

You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.

For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.

Application Process

Steps to take
Students of Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University have to apply via EduXchange.

External students (from research universities as well as universities of applied sciences) can apply for just one of the Leiden minors. This is not done through eduXchange, but through the procedure described here.
