Awareness and involvement
The new environmental plan devotes a lot of attention to ways of involving staff and students in the University's policies on the environment.
Greater focus on sustainability
In recent years the University has invested in green energy, solar panels, sustainable buildings and environmental concerns as part of the cycle of policy decisions. However, students, staff and third parties are generally insufficiently aware of these activities. This website therefore offers information on what the University is doing in the area of sustainability. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important element in the University's teaching and research.
Leiden University Green Office
An important step forward in raising awareness of our sustainability activities is the setting up of a Green Office. Students and staff work together in this office to put sustainability firmly on the map and to make the University even more sustainable.
The Leiden University Green Office (LUGO) has been in operation since 2016. Six students work here putting diversity on the agenda within the University. Students and staff who have ideas about improving the environment can register here. The students explain mor about their activities on their LUGO website and Facebook page.
