Painting animals; make a painting of your favorite animal
Saturday 15 April from 13:00-16:30 h
- Maurice Braspenning
All levels welcome.
In this workshop we work on a painting on canvas of your favorite animal.
Man has been painting animals since time immemorial. There is something magical about animals and sometimes we forget that we are animals ourselves. You choose an animal you want to draw, a portrait or an animal in nature. This could be your pet or an animal you've never seen and would like to capture.
Based on the photo you bring with you, we start with pencil and charcoal on paper and make a black and white drawing. We look at how to set up a drawing and what an exciting composition is. Then we add paint and color. At the end of the lesson we make a work with acrylic paint on canvas.
Maurice Braspenning studied at the Rietveld Academy and the Rijks Academy, both in Amsterdam, where he was taught by Luc Tuymans, among others.
He exhibits in the Netherlands and abroad. His work is in several company collections and the large work 'The Pope' has been purchased and is part of the collection of Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden.
He is also co-founder of the annual Familiekamer Kunstprijs, an annual exhibition with a professional jury.
