Experience Days | What if we refresh healthcare?

26 March – Health, Ageing and Society | 10 April – Population Health Management

Healthcare is under pressure. People are living longer, health inequalities are growing and costs keep rising. At the Faculty of Medicine, two Master programmes are working on solutions to these societal challenges. Students can choose between the Master in Health, Ageing and Society and the Master in Population Health Management. During the Experience Days, you’ll discover which programme suits you best. Still unsure? Join one or both of our Experience Days.

What can you expect from an Experience Day?

During our Experience Days, you’ll really dive into what the master programmes are all about. In just a few hours you’ll take part in activities such as short lectures and hands-on assignments. You’ll also get the chance to talk with alumni, staff and student ambassadors about the curriculum and career opportunities — so feel free to ask all your questions.

Amber Dijkstra

Student HAS

"A few years ago I worked in a nursing home as a supporter in living activities and during this job I noticed that the field of elderly care could really benefit from improvements. When I saw the opportunity for the master Health, Ageing and Society after my bachelor’s, I liked the idea of learning more about the healthcare system and contributing to possible improvements."

Danielle Rachman

BSc Physiotherapy | PHM student

“I started with the Master’s, because I wanted to further my knowledge in different healthcare approaches and the way in which we handle healthcare. Population Health Management is a great way of getting a broad overview of the different areas that need to be considered.”

Tiangao Lin

Student HAS

"After studying and working as a physiotherapist for years, I encountered many older individuals in practice, and I felt the need to provide better care to them. This program can give me insight into the aging and well-being of the aging population and guide me in which practice."

Students about these masters

Megan Currie

BSc Biomedical Sciences | PHM student

“After my bachelor's degree, I wanted to broaden my knowledge about healthcare and learn more about the different domains that need to be considered in order to create a more integrated system. Population Health Management offers me the interdisciplinary foundation and additional freedom to build my own healthcare vision upon.”

Angelika Gilli

Student HAS

"I wanted to broaden my horizon in the field of ageing. Since this Master offers very different points of views it is actually more than my expectations were."

Marlou Hokse

Bachelor Technical Medicine | PHM student

During my previous studies, technical medicine, I realised that the healthcare system in its current form faces many challenges outside of patient’s needs. I felt a passion grow to try and fix these issues from a broader perspective than technical medicine could offer. That's how I found PHM. This master’s really gives a background in different subjects, from health behaviour, to data analysis, to governance. This is what I especially enjoy, since it gives me the opportunity to look at an issue from different angles and combine the different specialities. I would really advise this master’s if you’d like to tackle overarching healthcare issues, using a broad view on healthcare. “PHM covers different subjects, from health behavior, to data analysis, to governance. That is what I especially enjoy about the master’s!”
