From 2014-2020 the European Commission will spend 70-80 billion Euros on research projects under the Horizon2020 programme. There are different types of funding instruments such as individual grants (Marie-Curie IF, ERC), and collaborative project grants (Research and Innovation Actions) in Horizon2020.
