Slavery: History and Political Philosophy
Human beings held captive, coerced into exploitative power relationships and forced to labour against their will: slavery has existed in innumerable societies. This series explores some facets of the global history of slavery as well as of the philosophical thinking underpinning, or rejecting, slavery as an institution.
Slavery: History and Political Philosophy is a series of seven lectures, organised by Studium Generale in co-operation with the Leiden Slavery Studies Association.
Please visit the Studium Generale website for many more lectures, discussions, science theatre events and documentary screenings.
