After our first October meeting where the main speaker Maria Hadjigavriel talked about her experiences in Palloures excavation accompanied by student respondent Gianni Vlachopoulos, we will move on to Panama where dr Natalia Donner will talk about her Darien Profundo project, an initiative that works from a historical ecology standpoint and applies a collaborative approach to archaeological research in the Gulf of San Miguel, Panama. In her presentation, she will discuss how this collaborative approach involves epistemic change (e.g. the concepts that we work with, such as archaeological site, or how we conceive archaeological data) but also a transformation in the relationships between archaeological projects and local communities as well as among team members. Student respondent Georg Müller will discuss his own experiences on Darien Profundo project and this relates to his own thesis and research.
