Title
Hydrodynamic and the quantum butterfly effect in black holes and field theories

Vincenzo Scopelliti (LION) is a PhD student at the Lorentz Institute for theoretical physics. He is interested in the connections between quantum chaos and hydrodynamic as a way to understand strongly coupled systems and some bizarre properties of black holes.

Abstract
How does a closed quantum system thermalize? And why do black holes emit thermal radiation? 
These questions relate to an essential feature of quantum mechanics: the role and the dynamics of quantum information. The common idea is that an underlying unknown mechanism might explain several open puzzles in different fields, starting from the black hole information paradox, to the properties of cold atomic systems, till the very basic foundations of quantum statistical mechanics. 
We push forward a very fascinating idea, namely that a microscopic quantum butterfly effect leaves imprints in the late-time physics, by affecting transport properties of the hydrodynamical excitations of the system. This could provide new techniques to study scrambling and shed some light on the above-mentioned problems.
We present some results obtained in the last years, as a new feature of some correlators at finite temperature and a very intriguing modification of the Boltzmann equation.
